POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was allegedly attacked with a machete-type weapon in Gravesend.

The 36-year-old was walking with a woman when they were stopped by three men in Brandon Street on July 11.

They were described as eastern European with dark skin, aged around 25 years old, and between 5ft 8in to 5ft 11in tall.

Police say one of the men tried to take the woman’s necklace and when the victim tried to stop them, he was allegedly attacked with the weapon.

He was taken to Darent Valley Hospital where he needed nine stitches to the injury.

One of the attackers was wearing white trainers, thought to new, and three-quarter-length blue trousers.

His hair was black, shaved short around the sides and spiky on the top and down the back.
