AN ANNUAL garden party and family funday, celebrating its 10th birthday this year, has raised more than £1,000 for cancer sufferers.
The Legheart Freemasons Lodge, based at the Westwood Masonic Centre in Bellegrove Road, Welling, held the event at the Lamorbey Residents’ Association pavilion in Burnt Oak Lane, Sidcup.
The day offered six hours of fun, games, music, food and a bouncy castle, for masons and their families and friends and has always raised cash for a variety of good causes.
This year its proceeds were given to Macmillan Cancer Support, which provides expert nursing, grants and family support for cancer sufferers.
Lodge master John Waters presented the cash to Judy Spencer from the charity.
The lodge is also hosting its annual Ladies’ Weekend in Oxford in September, when it will be raising more money for Macmillan.
Legheart Lodge is always looking for local good causes to support and is inviting groups to apply in writing to the lodge secretary at the masonic centre.
