CYCLING clubs competed for cups and trophies at a ‘bike blast’ competition.
Children from Hayes’s Bigfoot club and the Penge Go-Ride took part in challenges including a cross country race, a skills race and a grass track race.
Bigfoot won the first Bromley Bike Blast which was held at Pickhurst Junior School, Pickhurst Lane, Hayes.
Both clubs were established in the borough during the summer term thanks to the efforts of the Bromley branch of the London Cycling Campaign (LCC).
Branch co-ordinator Reverend Charles Potter said: “For some [joining a cycling club] becomes the entry into competitive cycling; for many it opens the door to personal best achievements, which boosts self-confidence.
“No amount of money can buy the effect that will have on their lives.”
