STAFF at a construction firm locked their boss in stocks and threw wet sponges at his face - but it was not a worker uprising, it was a charity event.
Employees of Willmott Dixon Dartford gathered for a BBQ and a raffle at Fleetdown United football club’s ground in Princes Road on Saturday (July 25).
And with the chance to hurl wet sponges at their Managing Director Rob Lambe, its not surprising more than 100 workers from the company’s Crossways Business Park base turned up.
However, the chance to raise money for Ellenor Lions Hospice, which cares for people with life-shortening illnesses, was another reason to attend, and £664 was collected for the charity.
Mr Lambe said: “Since we chose the hospice as our nominated charity this year, the team has devised all sorts of ways to raise funds, as it provides an incredibly important service.”
Willmott Dixon Dartford has now raised £6,772 for the hospice, which is based in Coldharbour Road, Northfleet.
