TWO men from Sidcup and South Darenth have been charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine with an estimated street value of 400 million euros (£345m).
The 1,554kg of cocaine was seized off the coast of Dunlough Bay, Cork, in July 2007, following a joint operation between Irish and Met police.
Alan Roger Wells, aged 55, of Blenheim Road, Sidcup, and John Gary Edney, aged 57, of East Hill, South Darenth, were both arrested last Thursday (July 23).
They appeared at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on Friday and have been remanded in custody to appear at Blackfriars Crown Court or the Old Bailey on August 11.
Former Met Police detective sergeant Michael Daly, aged 49, of no fixed address, was arrested yesterday (July 27) and also charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine.
Daly has been remanded in custody to appear at Blackfriars Crown Court or the Old Bailey on August 7.
