POLICE cadets in Bexley are on top of the world after winning the Met’s annual cadet compteition for the second time in three years.

Bexley’s Volunteer Police Cadets are now the only ones in the captital to have won the compeition twice in its six-year history.

They were competing with 23 teams from other cadets across London, taking part in seven diferent scenarios designed to test their teamwork, leadership, problem solving and communication.

The Bexley cadets took first place in three of the seven activities - drill, custody and safer transport - and came second in fire and vehicle crime scenarios.

Bexley cadet co-ordinator, PC Jeff Moorey said: “It was a fantastic day and the cadets did us proud.

“A few days before the event they were practicing their drill in the back yard at Bexleyheath police station and I could see they had what it would take to do well.

He added: “On the day they excelled and truly deserve the cluster of awards they now have.”
