YOUNGSTERS from across the Sidcup area celebrated National School Sport Week with a host of activities.
Organised by the Hurstmere School Sport Partnership, the week began with an outdoor and adventurous activities festival at Royal Park Primary School, Albany Park.
Organised and run by 22 young sports leaders from Hurstmere School in Hurst Road, it involved a variety of problem-solving and team challenges.
Youngsters identified as having a talent for games were invited to a striking and fielding workshop at Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School, also in Hurst Road.
Run by Bexley Cricket Club’s development officer, Richard O’Sullivan, it was designed to stretch and develop their talent.
The climax of the week was a games event where the children were encouraged to show the Olympic and Paralympic values.
Attended by more than 400 children, events included tri golf, indoor rowing, gymnastics, athletics, basketball and netball, multi-skills and speed stacking.
