POLICE visited playing fields in West Wickham last night (July 23) in the hope of discovering more about the murder of a football manager.

Dozens of Bromley police officers visited Sparrows Den playing fields and stopped traffic and handed out leaflets along Addington Road from around 6.45pm to 7.15pm.

It was hoped the operation, exactly one week after father-of-two Ryan Musgrove was shot dead on the fields, would jog people’s memories about the attack.

Mr Musgrove, 36, was killed by a lone gunman on July 16 at around 6.30pm.

The first team manager at Coney Hall Football Club died on the fields when a masked gunman burst from the bushes and shot the electrician in the heart.

Flowers still cover the spot where paramedics battled unsuccessfully to save his life.

Detectives know relatively little about the gunman apart from he was probably aged under 30, possibly in his early 20s.

His hat, goggles and white mask helped to shield his identity from Mr Musgrove’s team mates, who were gathering for training on the playing fields.
