AN air ambulance landed in a town centre park yesterday afternoon (July 23) after reports a teenager had been shot.

Police and ambulance crews were called to College Road in Bromley at around 6pm and found a 19-year-old man had suffered a puncture wound to his chest, caused by an air rifle.

He was taken to Kings College Hospital by ambulance where his injuries were described as non life threatening.

Police say the victim has refused to say how or when he got the wound, although it is believed he was shot before he arrived in College Road to visit friends.

Louise Gaw, 25, of nearby Tweedy Road, said: “I looked out my window and there was loads of sirens. I knew something was going on straight away.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the helicopter land on the park.

“I am amazed because that park is normally quiet at that time on a Thursday.”

She added: “I use College Road a lot and I have never seen any trouble before.”

Other witnesses say armed police attended the scene just yards from Bromley High Street.

Police say their investigations are continuing.
