A TEENAGER waiting for a lift home from his parents after starting a new job, is in hospital with serious injuries after being attacked.

The Asian 17-year-old was sitting on a bench in Crayford Road, Crayford, opposite the Tower Retail Park at around 5.40pm on July 12, when he was surrounded by a group of white youths.

The teenager who worked at a store in the retail park, was punched and kicked to the ground by the youths, aged between 15 and 17.

They left their victim lying bleeding and unconscious on the ground.

He spent several days in intensive care at a local hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack, which is being treated as racially motivated.

Detective Sergeant Gary Wingrove from Bexley CID said: “This was an horrific and sustained attack on a young boy that occurred in a busy area in broad daylight, when there would have been many witnesses.“ Two 17-year-olds have appeared at Bexley Magistrates Court charged with gbh with intent.

They were remanded in custody and were due to appear at Bexley Youth Court yesterday(July 22).
