A SCHOOL’S deaf unit was bowled over when they found out sportsmen had raised money for them.
The Oak Bowling Society has been giving funds to charity since it was formed in 1994 and this year decided to donate funds to the deaf unit at Darrick Wood School.
Around £2,000 was given to the centre enabling it to purchase two laptop computers.
These have been added to the 15 it had before so every child at the deaf unit has their own laptop to work on.
The head of the deaf centre Pam Beadle said: “They just phoned up and said they raised some money.
“It was a lovely surprise.”
Anyone who wants to join the bowls club and help raise money should call the captain Eric Smith on 020 8460 7057.
