WE HAVE have had a particularly good variety of speakers these past few months, ranging from Che Tung and Ta Che by Frank Bennett in which we participated, and Cooking the Italian Way by Sue Hollings.

Joy and Maureen from our WI spoke to us about this year’s WI resolution about calling for an investigation into the worrying decline and mass deaths of honey bees, pointing out bumble bees are declining too.

Without the bees' pollination the world would be doomed; hard work by these two in gathering information and making cakes with honey in them, which we sampled, made it the best Resolutions Meeting we have ever had.

Our July meeting will be a talk and slides by John Beckham on birds of parks and gardens.

Our June meeting was our 36th birthday meeting - lots of food, drink and a birthday cake, plus a fun quiz. In August instead of our normal meeting we have a meal out.

We have had several local walks, a visit to the Hats Museum in London, one to Rye by coach and then on to Jordan’s bakery in Peasemarsh for demonstrations and a cream tea plus our usual monthly ten pin bowling. Knitting is still being done, ie clothes for premature babies, seamen’s hats and blankets from knitted squares, all being delivered by our crafts rep.

Our new outings rep is in the process of arranging more outings.

We meet on the fourth Monday of each month at the District Scouts' Headquarters in Mayplace Road West, which is easily accessible by public transport and also has a car park.

The meetings start sharply at 7.45pm and we try to be there by 7.30pm.
