Rotary Club of Eltham Phoenix: Outgoing president Peter Green presented Jim Bennett, Chief Executive of Greenwich and Bexley Cottage Hospice, with one of the Rotary’s highest awards, a Paul Harris Fellowship Award on June 29 at Sophie’s Choice Restaurant in Sidcup.
The Award was established by Rotary International in 1957, ten years after the death of its founder, Paul Harris in recognition of outstanding service to the community.
Jim Said: “It is indeed a great honour to be recognised by the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International and Eltham Phoenix Rotary Club in particular, for the contribution I have been able to give to the community via the work of the Hospice.”
Greenwich & Bexley Cottage Hospice provides specialist palliative care to local people suffering with life-threatening illnesses.
The Hospice offers a wide range of services including a 19 bedded in-patient facility, day care centre, carer support, outreach work, a lymphoedema service, complementary therapy and creative arts helping people to enjoy a better quality of life and enabling them to do things they thought they would never do again.
