A COMMUNITY group is celebrating the publication of a book charting its 70 year battle to protect a heath.
Guardians of the Heath chronicles the history of The Blackheath Society since it was founded in 1937.
Written by Felix Barker and Tony Aldous, the book describes the society’s many campaigns, including its fight against the building of a motorway through the middle of Blackheath Village in the 1960s.
A book launch event will be held at the Blackheath Halls, Lee Road, Blackheath, on August 16, from 11am to 1pm.
