A SERIES of football tournaments will help kick start a campaign against knife crime.
Bromley police, Crystal Palace Football Club and Bromley Council have teamed up to organise four free football competitions for youngsters aged between 11 and 18.
The ‘Give the Red Card to Knife Crime’ initiative will see an under 15s tournament and an under 18s tournament take place at Kelsey Park Sports College in Manor Way, Beckenham, on July 28 and July 29 respectively.
The format is then repeated at Coopers Technology College in Hawkwood Lane, Chislehurst, on August 10 and August 11.
A police spokesman said: “Innovative workshops will also be delivered as part of the football tournaments to highlight the issues of knife and street crime in Bromley and to provide information regarding the consequences of their possible actions.”
The winning teams will then be invited to participate in a final which will be held at the home of Crystal Palace Football Club, Selhurst Park.
The tournaments are open to both individuals and teams and places need to be booked in advance.
