A residents’ group grilled designers of a multi-million pound masterplan during a Government inquiry into the future of a historic park.
The Residents of the North Side of Anerley Hill spent several hours on July 15 asking the London Development Agency’s Robin Buckle about the organisation’s plans for Crystal Palace Park.
Objecting to the plans and representing the residents’ group, Steve Sawko said the LDA had no idea about the extra costs involved in building above a railway tunnel under the park.
Mr Buckle argued he had “made enquires” to the railway company in 2005 but was still unsure how much money would be involved, adding: “I am sure there are costs involved building above a tunnel such as this.”
The agency want to spend £67 million regenerating the park.
The inquiry is set to finish on August 7, and it could take several months before a decision is announced.
