THE SENTENCING of a mother who admitted killing her 11-year-old son has been postponed.
Jennifer Taylor was due to be sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday (July 20) after pleading guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility last month.
However, the sentencing has been adjourned to an unannounced later date because a doctor due to report on Taylor’s mental state is not available on Monday.
Taylor, 45, had been charged with murder, which she had denied, after her son James Taylor was found dead at their home in Knights Croft, New Ash Green, on December 2 last year.
Post-mortem examination results showed he had drowned and had drugs in his system.
Taylor was found in a critical condition at the house and was in hospital until December 8, when she taken into police custody and charged with James's murder.
Since then she has been held at a mental health unit.
