Greenwich & Bexley Cottage Hospice hailed this year's Funday (July 12) one of the best yet in what turned out to be a fine weather event. The event, in its 16th successful year, was held on Bostall Heath, Abbey Wood, opposite the Hospice grounds.

54 volunteers helped man the busy market area with all kinds of crafts, plants, books and jewellery to buy, prizes to win and children's activities to take part in. Plus a beekeeping area, strawberries & cream, tombolas - and for the kids, inflatables, spin the wheel, clown football and hook a boat. Arena displays, live music, a classic car show and children's rides added to the fun.

Jim Bennett – Chief Executive at the Hospice said: "This year’s event was without doubt the busiest and best yet with several thousand people attending. It was a lovely day, the weather was perfect and a good crowd turned up”.

Approximately £10,000 was raised for the Hospice.

The event, which ran from 1-5pm, was attended by the Mayor of Greenwich Cllr Allan MacCarthy and the Deputy Mayor of Bexley Cllr Aileen Beckwith.

It was sponsored by Roy's Stores of Abbey Wood.
