CHILDREN raised around £6,000 for charity by abseiling down a school.
Widehorizons Outdoor Education Trust, which provides outdoor learning for youngsters in Lewisham and Greenwich, held the event at Eltham Green School, in Middle Park Avenue, Eltham, on July 11 and 12.
Around 85 youngsters abseiled down the side of one of school's five-storey buildings to raise money to help refurbish one of the trust's centres in Wrotham, Kent.
Evan Trevett, from Kemnal Technology College in Bromley, took part in the sponsored event.
The 14-year-old said: “You don’t realise how high it is until you get to the top and see right across London.
“Leaning backwards over the edge is the scariest part.”
