CRIME in Kent has fallen by eight per cent, according to the Home Office's annual report.

Between April 2008 and March 2009, there was an overall reduction of 10,222 crimes from the previous year.

Detections of crime increased by 4.5 per cent. Almost 39,135 offenders were brought to justice compared to 38,273 the previous year.

Kent Police Assistant Chief Constable Andy Adams said: "We are extremely pleased we are continuing to see an overall reduction in crime, but we will not be complacent."
