MORE used to sitting at a desk than in a digger, a top councillor got a ‘cutting edge’ housing project underway at a former sports ground.
Cllr Graham Arthur was delighted to be at the site in to see work begin on 60 homes on the Blue Circle development.
The ‘extra care housing’ flats are for residents with care needs who want to live independently but still have access to 24 hour care and support.
Executive member for adult and community services Cllr Arthur said: “This flagship scheme will be truly cutting edge.
“Research tells us older people want to live as independently as possible for as long as possible and I am very proud we are working with Hanover Housing and Asprey Homes to develop this state of the art scheme for older people in Bromley.”
The scheme is expected to be completed by 2011.
