WHEN Orpington Video and Film Makers put on a show of their films, one of the most popular items is a newsreel of events which have taken place in the area throughout the year to which a number of members contribute.
These newsreels have become a valuable archive of local social history and a compilation of events recorded over the past 30 years was the highlight of the club’s anniversary film show in March.
However, it’s often very difficult to get advance notice of what’s happening so that arrangements can be made to have a member standing by.
Therefore, to help with this project, the club would welcome suggestions for any special events or activities residents feel might be of visual interest.
Although Orpington Video and Film Makers are active all the year round it’s recognised summer is the time when cameras are put to most use.
To help members make the best use of their equipment, the first meeting of their new programme was set aside for an experienced panel to answer questions and join in a general discussion.
