A TRAIN station has been given an award for being a safe place for passengers and staff.
The Secure Stations Scheme award was given to the New Beckenham station’s staff by Beckenham MP Jacqui Lait to acknowledge the efforts to deter crime and anti-social behaviour at the location including improving lighting, CCTV and removing graffiti.
The station is managed by Southeastern.
Southeastern’s managing director Charles Horton said: “The staff have been working extremely hard to ensure that all our passengers feel safe and secure whenever they use this station.
“We will continue to make sure the excellent standards we have set are maintained.”
The Secure Stations Scheme is run by the Department for Transport and the British Transport Police.
