A TAXI driver suffered a broken nose, two black eyes, and bruising to his face after being attacked by a passenger.
The cabbie, said to be in his 60s, picked up a man and a woman from the Railway Inn pub, Sole Street, on Monday (July 13) night and took them to Kent Close, Paddock Wood, West Kent.
When they arrived, between 11pm and 11.30pm, the man got into the front of the cab and demanded the car keys, and when the driver refused, he attacked him before walking away with the woman.
The driver was taken to Kent and Sussex Hospital in Tunbridge Wells, where he is recovering from his injuries.
Officers are looking at CCTV footage from inside the cab and forensically examining the vehicle.
A Kent police spokewoman said: “Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw a man and a woman walking from Kent Close at around 11.30pm.”
The man is described as 5ft 9ins, in late teens to mid 20’s and wearing a light blue t-shirt.
The woman is described as a similar age, 5ft 6ins, with dark hair tied in a ponytail and wearing dark coloured trousers or tracksuit bottoms.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police on 01732 379217 (if possible quoting reference 10086) or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
