A GIANT floral version of a school’s crest has been created to celebrate its 80th anniversary.
St Thomas More primary school, Appleton Road, Eltham, marked the milestone in its history with a display by the area’s gardeners in Well Hall Pleasaunce.
The 20-foot wide ornate planting is visible from the road at the pleasaunce on Well Hall Road, and included finishing touches from six pupils.
Originally called The Blessed Thomas More, the school was converted from a church hall in 1929, six years before More’s sainthood and opened with just three classes of 38 or 39 pupils.
The garden was the brainchild of school head teacher Peter Finlay.
He said: “We thought it would be a nice way to get all the children and their families to visit the park during the summer.”
