A DEVELOPER who is converting an off-licence into flats could be ordered to change it back because he failed to get planning permission.
Gravesham Council has told the developer, known as Mr Singh, to cease work on the property in London Road, Northfleet, and submit a planning application or face a legal order to return it to its original state.
Council officers, supported by police, inspected the building last Wednesday (July 8) and found it had been turned into three self-contained flats and an office.
The unauthorised building was reported to the council eight months ago, but every time an officer went to inspect the property they were denied access.
Gravesham Council leader Councillor Mike Snelling said: “We will not tolerate anyone flouting planning laws.
“Whether it be illegally occupying land or building without planning permission, we will take action.”
