A GROUP of youngsters had more than a passing interest in their school’s summer fete this year.
The Year 6 pupils at St Stephen’s Catholic School in Ruskin Avenue, Welling, were set a challenge by the Parents’ Association which organises the annual event.
The children were divided into four teams of 15, who were each given £30 and challenged to organise and promote their own fete stall.
Team Rocky Roads decided to sell rock crystals, while Tutti Fruiti created a human fruit machine, Dip and Dunk invited people to throw wet sponges at their classmates and Chocablock challenged blindfolded people to guess what kind of chocolate they were tasting.
Tutti Fruiti was judged to have the most original idea, but Rocky Roads took the most money - £122.50.
Headteacher Mary Masterson was left to decide which was the winner and chose Rocky Roads.
Their profits will be given to charity.
Overall, the fete is expected to make an £8,000 profit which will be spent on the school.
