A CHURCH went canine crazy when it hosted a dog show for 99 preened pooches.
St Mildred's Church in Meopham held the event in its grounds as part of a garden party, which was attended by around 1,000 people and raised more than £3,000 for the church.
The show included an unusual race, with sausages laid in intermittent piles over 150 metres so the dogs would eat one pile before running to the next and eventually the finish line.
Mary Boxall helped to organise the garden party in Nurstead Church Lane, and said: “Everyone could see that all the dogs were enjoying taking part in the show.”
The 80-year-old Wrotham Road resident added: “The dogs especially enjoyed the sausage race, and it was very funny to watch them running from one pile of sausages to the next.”
