FANS of fans can see all the best examples on display at a museum dedicated to the pieces.
The Fan Museum in Greenwich was due to hold an exhibition entitled Poetry in Motion but this has been cancelled and replaced with a display of its most spectacular fans.
Highlights include 17th and 18th century fans, one which belonged to the Duchess of Kent, Queen Victoria’s mother, which has a tiny watch in the “head”.
Others on display are a jewelled fan carried by Princess Stephanie of the Belgians in 1881 on the occasion of her marriage to Prince Rudolph of Hapsburg, heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire as well as exquisite marabou feather fans.
Summer exhibition, until October 4.
