A PRIMARY school has been given a lottery grant to help run an after-school club promoting healthy living.
Chelsfield Primay School in Warren Road has been given £9,600 to teach the benefits of a balanced diet and regular exercise.
Head teacher Patrick Foley said: “We want to improve the health and fitness of the children so that not only do they benefit from improving health, but they also learn important life skills.
“That’s what education is all about, if they have more of an understanding of sport and health, the more your chances to do well in a work environment improves.
"You learn leadership skills, the ability to work in a team, and emotional intelligence, all of which are transferable skills.”
The cash will fund a healthy lifestyle coach who will develop the children's understanding about healthy lifestyles.
