AN MP has taken a group of school pupils on a tour of the Prime Minister’s home.
Ramandeep Pawar, 13, from The Joan Roan School, in Westcombe Park, Blackheath, wrote to Greenwich and Woolwich MP Nick Raynsford asking him to invite the Prime Minister to the school.
In response, Gordon Brown invited Mr Raynsford and Ramandeep’s class to visit Number 10 Downing Street, on July 3.
The year eight pupil was joined by 23 of his classmates, two teachers and headteacher Des Malone, who were able to take a seat in Winston Churchill’s favourite chair and take a peek at the Cabinet room.
Mr Raynsford said: “I was impressed with Ramandeep’s initiative in contacting the Prime Minister.
“This shows that politics is relevant to all ages, and demonstrates John Roan’s commitment to encouraging their pupils to become active citizens in the community.”
