I went to watch and review Peter Pan at the Orchard Theatre on December 9. The basic story was the same as the book but some aspects had been changed. The singing was fabulous and there were other songs adapted into it such as I Believe I Can Fly, Men in Black and I Turn to You.
There were also parts in it from television programmes and films, such as Finding Nemo.
Barnaby, who was playing Pirate Smee, was fantastic and on many occasions he was able to get the audience laughing along with him as his lines were excellently written.
Brian Blessed, who played Mr Darling and also Captain Hook, was also funny and had excellent lines.
The dancers were very talented and their performances were of a very high standard.
There was a great selection of acrobatics, which included flips and somersaults later in the play and they looked outstanding.
Kirsten O'Brien played Peter Pan. When I asked her how different pantomime was to TV, she said: "Panto is much more energetic and it is a chance to do different things."
Brian Blessed said: "Pantomime is the most exciting entertainment as it includes ballet, opera, acting and music."
I would really love to see Peter Pan again and would really urge people to go and book their tickets sooner rather than later to save missing out on a great performance.
