British woman Samantha Orobator has been sentenced to life in jail by a Laos court after being found guilty of heroin trafficking – and there is talk about her being returned to Britain to serve her sentence here. Well my message to Laos is “No thanks, keep her or execute her”.
The fact is that if Orobator was returned to this country she wouldn’t serve life – her sentence would be reassessed by a Court here, in accordance with Britain’s sentencing guidelines........which means that she’s serve a week and then be freed, given the pathetic state of our judicial system. Great, just what we need, another drug dealing, single parent with no morals being funded by the taxpayer. This criminal should in no circumstances be returned to this country.
Harsh? No, absolutely not. Orobator has manipulated a lot of people, had them feeling sorry for her and even signing petitions in support of her ‘plight’. This woman is a devious drug smuggler. Police found 680g (1.5lb) of heroin in 68 capsules when Orobator was stopped at Vientiane airport on her way to Australia (she pleaded guilty in Court, even naming several of her alleged accomplices in her testimony). While in prison she contrived to get pregnant to avoid the death penalty - Orobator initially told authorities she was pregnant by her boyfriend in England but tests after she was arrested showed no signs of pregnancy. A hospital test on 2 March showed she was pregnant, verified by a second test on 4 April, meaning she had become pregnant while in prison. Her mother confirmed that Orobator had not been raped or become pregnant by prison officials or fellow prisoners, as some of the gullible mainstream media had reported, and that the father of her unborn child was not a Laos prison official. Indeed, Orobator has now both told authorities and a British newspapers that she obtained sperm from a fellow prisoner, bizarrely enough another British drug smuggler currently serving life, to impregnate herself specifically to avoid the death penalty.
“We're hoping the British government will get her home as soon as possible for the health of her and her baby," said Katherine O'Shea, a Reprieve spokeswoman. The arrogance and stupidity of these liberal do-gooders knows no bounds. Forget bringing her to a British prison, she committed her crime in Laos, let her serve her sentence there - it might be a good incentive to others.
