AT OUR our meeting on May 13 members were asked to show Anything Beginning with the Letter “A”.
Ten duly obliged and provided an interesting and varied selection of material.
Ron Burn: Antarctic and Atlantic Weather Stations and South African Naval Antarctic Expedition (SANAE) material, mainly covers.
Grahame Boutle: An assortment of Oil interest postcards.
Ian Reed: Australia including Airmail items, GV 1d Heads with varieties and Dies, other Re-Entries, etc.
Len Barnes: Austria assortment including Funeral notice, PPCs, Postal Stationery in different languages, Assassination items etc.
Ian Nutley: Airmail to America via Africa covers, all with 1935 Silver Jubilee frankings including Gambia, Sierra Leone, Bechuanaland and Seychelles.
Mike Dobbs: Army Post Offices in France and Italy, Army Signals, Australia Forces inc Atomic Testing and Woomera Rocket Range items.
Ernie Burkin: Assortment of stamps from countries beginning with “A” or with illustrations of people, places and objects beginning with letter “A.”
Mike Blackwood: A 2009 Around the World Odyssey illustrating the route of the last voyage of the Saga Rose with PPCs.
Alan Stenning: Antigua and Ascension Island GVI stamps.
David Rennie: Aden GVI period stamps and covers, and history of its British period The society meets in the Public Hall, Bromley Road, Beckenham.
