OUR May meeting was a resolution meeting.
The issue to be put forward to the Government was our concern at the decline of the honey bee and a plea to increase funding for research.
Our speaker, Lesley Fancote, is a beekeeper and she reminded us that every third mouthful of what we eat has been pollinated by bees.
It is therefore vital the varroa mite, responsible for decimating bee colonies, be eradicated.
The meeting continued with some limericks and poetry written by members.
Our next meeting is on June 11 when Mary Clarke will give a talk on Denman College.
Visitors are always welcome. We meet at the Memorial Hall in Lewis Road at 7.30pm.
