GUEST speaker Anita Jones encouraged everyone to recycle their household waste by showing how she had cleverly turned newspaper, cork, jam jar lids, material and plastic bottles into practical or decorative items for use around the home.
Anita explained how new uses are now being found for recycled waste and gave examples of plastics made into water butts, compost bins or even decking as an alternative to wood.
Old textiles can be turned into stuffing or industrial wipes for use in industry.
A group of members attended the BBC television studies during the filming of The Alan Titchmarsh Show.
Celebrity guests kept everyone very entertained as they watched singing performances by Jodi Prenger, now appearing in the West End show Oliver, and Tony Christie.
Other guests included Nanette Newman and her daughter Emma plus a special treat of a showcase dance by Anton du Beke and Erin Boag.
The WI Federation’s annual council meeting was held at Tunbridge Wells.
Those attending heard from Baroness Scott about life in the House of Lords and Jeremy Speke revealed how being part of the TV Airport programme changed his life.
Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 2pm in Farnborough Village Hall.
