WHILE the recent good weather helped it was the skill of the growers that was on display at Society’s Spring Show on 4 April.
There was a fine range of daffodil varieties and the quality was excellent.
Derek Weller maintained his position as the Society’s expert, winning the Fred Allen Cup and the Jack Tessier Award as well as the Daffodil Society Medal for a Bravoure daffodil judged as the best in one section, and his Sherbourne was the best bloom in the Show.
The domestic section was well supported this year with Pam Roberts taking the Wakeford Cup for the best exhibit with her marmalade and the Cole Cup for the best Dundee cake.
Margaret Stone and Win Bond shared the Handicraft Shield and Suzanne Harrison’s flower arrangement won the Spring Cup.
The entries of Evan and Baillie Rogers and Suzanne and Matthew Harrison all won medals in the Junior Section for their models of a garden shed.
Our next event is on Wednesday 15 April at 8pm and is a talk on Geraniums by Jackie Violet. On 9 May at 10.30am there will be a plant sale. Both events are in St Mark’s Church Hall, Biggin Hill.
Entry is free and everyone is welcome. For details of this and our other activities telephone 01959 575799.
