THE trial of a man accused of murdering teenager Rob Knox has reached the end of its first week.
Karl Bishop, aged 21, of Beaver Lodge, Carlton Road, Sidcup, denies murder and five counts of wounding with intent to cause GBH.
The Old Bailey heard today (Feb 13) from Russell Wood and his brother Samuel who had both encountered Bishop the previous week on May 17.
Bishop had been outside the Metro Bar in Station Road, Sidcup, "aggressively" accusing people of taking his mobile phone.
Russell Wood said Bishop punched Dean Saunders, a friend of Mr Knox, and a fight then began.
Mr Wood described the fight as a "melee of arms" which included punches thrown by Rob Knox.
Bishop was chased away down Station Road towards the Tesco Express store and was turning back to goad his followers, Mr Wood said.
The following week Mr Wood said he saw Bishop standing outside the Metro Bar with a knife, having been involved in a fight earlier that evening.
During a fight outside the Metro Bar at around midnight on May 24, Mr Knox was stabbed five times and died from his injuries.
This week the trial heard from five of Rob's friends who were wounded outside the Metro Bar, along with two bouncers, several witnesses to the fight and Mr Knox's younger brother Jamie.
Bishop's defence team claim he was acting in self defence, was surrounded outside the bar and attacked when he had put his knives away.
The trial continues.
