YOBS started a fire on a bus in Bexleyheath last night (January 28).

The youths were on the 422 in Pickford Lane when they set light to some paper at the back of the vehicle.

Using a fire extinguisher the driver managed to put it out at around 8pm and firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to check and make sure the fire was completely extinguished.

Several passengers were on the bus, which runs between Bexleyheath bus garage and North Greenwich station, when the incident happened.

No-one was injured and the vehicle was returned to the depot to be cleaned up.

Police also attended the incident and it is believed they will be reviewing the CCTV footage from the bus.
