A LACK of money may force Cray Valley Amateur Boxing Club to close.
The club, in Ranmore Path, St Mary’s Cray, is in difficulty and needs help to keep going.
With British success in the Beijing Games this summer the best boxing results since 1956, and the 2012 Olympics fast approaching in London, it would be a shame to lose a local club.
Cray Valley recently took part in the Cotmandene street party, with the light sparring and pad work shows proving very popular.
The club has played a vital role in providing something to do for local youths who might otherwise get into trouble on the green and around local shops.
The club has been praised by the local residents' association for reducing crime and anti-social behaviour, and also has the backing of the local police community support officer.
If you are able to assist with your time, money or expertise in helping save this club contact me at s.jenkins@bbk.ac.uk or Ollie in the gym, 14-18 Ranmore Path, St Mary’s Cray, BR5 2HP.
