THE leader of a gang of robbers who raided security vans in south London, including one in Greenwich, has been jailed.
Kenneth Armaah, of Elcot Avenue, Peckham, was given a six-and-a-half sentence at the Inner London Crown Court today (November 7).
The court heard Armaah, aged 32, was a “Fagin-like character” who organised the robberies and recruited younger men “to do the dirty work”.
One of the robberies was a raid on a security van in Creek Road, Greenwich, on November 1 last year.
The court heard Armaah met Sas Lebbie, aged 18, of Person Close, Camberwell, and Emmanuel Attoh, aged 25, of Dorset Road, Stockwell, in Greenwich and gave them a stolen car.
The two younger men robbed a Loomis security van while Armaah waited around the corner.
All three men were arrested by Flying Squad officers who were lying in wait.
Lebbie was given a 39-month sentence and Attoh was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
All three men were found guilty of robbery and conspiracy to rob.
Three other members of the gang have also been given custodial sentences for their part in the series of robberies.
