A SCHOOL has celebrated the end of a three-year renovation project aimed at bringing the school into the 21st century.
Worsley Bridge Junior School first started renovating its classrooms, toilets and school hall in 2006 and have spent around £200,000 on an extensive modernisation programme.
The school on Brackley Road, Beckenham, has also bought two mobile computer suites and six computers for the library while improving security with the help of Beckenham’s Citygate Church.
Headteacher Jacky Pike said: “When I first started here, the school was in a bad state of repair and had been neglected. The desks in the classrooms were 40 years old.
“It needed some TLC and the staff, parents and church group have been brilliant at helping with the project.
“We hope to improve the playground next and the children have really benefited from the work we have done so far.”
