AN environmental group are celebrating after a Grade II listed building was saved from developers.
The Friends of Harvington voiced their concerns in 2006 when Bromley Council first decided to try and sell Harvington Lodge in Beckenham.
Since then, the local authority have failed to find a buyer for the single storey Victorian building in South Eden Park Road.
And councillors decided at a meeting on November 4 that the former park lodge should be taken off the market and remain council property for another three years.
Chairman of the Friends of Harvington Wendy Gowlett said: “We have 60 or 70 members and we are all delighted with what the council have agreed.
“We are more than happy to do our bit to help maintain the lodge now.
“We want to get the police involved and get some security in the park.”
