I have touched on the subject of how 11 years of New Labour has dumbed down the nation before, but what passes as entertainment these days really takes the biscuit - and before a collective groan emanates, I’m not going to be blogging about Jonathan Ross & Russell Brand, as that subject’s been done to death!
Forget also the shows that encourage talentless individuals to ritually humiliate themselves – shows like ‘The X Factor’ and ‘Britain’s got talent’ - or the pointless ‘entertainment’ shows devised simply to keep the likes of Lorraine Kelly off the streets, I’m talking about the shows that are classed as ‘User-generated content’ by the media professionals.
Come again? I know, these luvvie types speak a special brand of gibberish, don’t they? The shows that I’m referring to are the TV and Radio phone-in shows, home of the desperate, boring, banal, dullard.
I have caught these shows on occasion – both current affair and sports based - and not once, not ever, ever, ever has anyone who phoned in had anything remotely interesting to say. I cannot fathom for the life of me what on earth possesses these dullards to decide that they must pick up the phone and bore people senseless with their ill-informed opinions. And the worst thing is that there must be an audience out there, as these programmes seem to be multiplying!
This has gone way too far and something needs to be done about it! Please let’s find a way of sending these people back whence they came and have them return to the thing they used to do before these shows came along, namely going down to the pub and boring their mates/other drunks senseless with their ramblings.
All comments gratefully received – and the fact that you’re signed up to the great Newsshopper website immediately shows you to be of a much higher moral standing - and therefore so much more interesting - than the dimwits I’m referring to in the blog, so comment away without feeling that you’re being in the least bit hypocritical!
