A successful garden waste recycling scheme will draw to a close later this month.
Bromley Council opened five garden waste collection sites in April to ease traffic congestion at the borough’s two re-use and recycling centres in Waldo Road, Bromley, and Churchfields Road in Beckenham.
But after collecting tonnes of grass cuttings, prunings and dead plants the council will close the six sites in Beckenham, Biggin Hill, Bromley, Green Street Green and St Paul’s Cray after November 30.
Head of Waste Services John Woodruff said: “We have extended this incredibly popular service until the last weekend in November to allow residents time to gather unwanted leaves from their gardens.
“Of course, leaves, grass clippings and other garden waste can be composted at home but if the space is simply not available, by using one of these sites garden waste will be composted.”
