POLICE are looking for two men in connection with a racist attack at Bellingham railway station.

The victim was verbally abused, punched and kicked and had his bags thrown onto the tracks while he waited for the train.

British Transport Police’s investigating officer Bob Parrett said the verbal abuse was racist in content and the attack is being treated as a hate crime.

CCTV images of two men police would like to speak to in connection with the incident have been released.

One of the men is in his early 30s, with short cropped hair.

He is about 5ft 7in tall and was wearing black trousers and a white shirt with a black casual jacket.

The other man is in his late 30s with a bald head.

He is about 5ft 9in tall and was wearing a black jacket with black trousers and a white shirt.

PC Parrett said: "It was a particularly nasty attack which occurred very close to the platform edge.

“Both the victim and the suspect were very lucky not to have toppled onto the tracks during the assault.”

Anyone with any information about the men or the incident which happened at about 6.20pm on October 10, should call BTP on 0800 405040 or the Witness Appeal Line on 020 7391 5275.
