A STUDENT is celebrating after winning Greenwich Shopping Park's local hero campaign.
The shopping centre, in Bugsby´s Road, Greenwich, awarded Brian Katabaazi, of Haddo Street, Greenwich, £250 for his work with young people in the borough.
The campaign, launched in May, aimed to find people who deserve recognition for the work they do in the community.
The 23-year-old student is a member of Greenwich Council’s Diversity Review Board which discusses issues such as housing, anti-social behaviour and helps to develop new policies.
Mr Katabaazi says he will donate the money to the council run Greenwich Young People's Council where he was once chairman.
He said: “I want to give the money to the Greenwich Young People’s Council because it works with youngsters to raise issues affecting them with the council.
“The real message is that we should work together as a community and we should create opportunities for all not just for the few.”
