A 62-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court accused of raping a 17-year-old girl in 1980.
Geoffrey Stoneham, of Alamein Road, Swanscombe, appeared before Aylesbury Crown Court this morning(October 30) charged with rape.
Stoneham did not enter a plea and the magistrates remanded him in custody until he appears at the court again on December 11.
He was arrested on October 14 in connection with the rape of the teenager, who was attacked in Wycombe in Buckinghamshire on April 25, 1980 as she walked home after a night out.
She was approached from behind by a man and dragged to a nearby railway embankment, where she was raped by two men, police said.
The arrest follows an investigation by Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Review Team.
