A COUNCILLOR is appealing to residents to support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
Sevenoaks District Council’s chairman Councillor Felicity Broomby is asking people to donate money towards the appeal, which last year raised a total of £30m.
Cllr Broomby said: "The Royal British Legion continues to give invaluable care, support and advice to the many ex-service men and women who seek its aid.
“I am asking residents to dig deep into their pockets and give generously for the sake of those who have served and those who continue to serve our country in action overseas."
The legion helps people of all ages, providing financial, social and emotional help to all those who have been affected by conflict.
This year's theme is Serving those who Serve, emphasising the need to help men and women who are serving today, as well as ex-servicemen and their families.
Poppies will be available at Sevenoaks District Council's main offices in Argyle Road, Sevenoaks.
