A SHOPPING centre has turned to Doctor Who in its efforts to raise cash for a charity.
Lewisham Shopping Centre used a home-made Dalek and Tardis based on the classic BBC show to raise money for Demelza House Hospice.
Security staff at the centre are aiming to raise £16,000 for the charity.
The Dalek was used as a donation point while Lewisham police, who did a 1,000-mile sponsored ride on exercise bikes, gave the team a cheque for £4,000.
Around £11,000 has now been raised for Demelza, which is building a new hospice in Eltham to care for terminally-ill children.
Centre manager Paul Redden said: “They have put a tremendous amount of work into raising this money.”
The team will host a charity night at the Rivoli Ballroom, Brockley Road, Brockley, on December 5 with advance tickets costing £7, and £12 on the door. To book, call Richard Huntley on 07956 860154.
